2026 MG MG5 launched with new interior and exterior colours and upgraded features.
The new car continues the exterior and interior design of the 2025 model, adds new Bubbles Orange and Andean Grey body colours, and upgrades in terms of configuration. Positioned as a compact sedan, the MG5′s main competitors include the VW LAVIDA, Dongfeng Nissan Xuanyi, and BYD Qin PLUS DM-i.
Stunning appearance
2026 MG5 still follows the family style straight waterfall grille design, with chrome decorative strips, full of air; front surrounded by the two sides of the “L” vents and hatch cover on the bulging lines, not only to enhance the car’s three-dimensional sense, but also more sporty atmosphere. Side continuation of the sliding back shape and double waistline design, coupled with the window chrome trim embellishment, so that the side lines of the entire car to maintain the sporty at the same time is also more refined. The rear ducktail with diffuser-style rear surround and polygonal chrome trim creates the visual effect of bilateral dual-exit exhaust, which is robust but not lacking in dynamism. The new colour scheme of Bubble Orange and Andean Grey is particularly appealing to young people, making it instantly recognisable in the crowd.
Luxury interior
Although the overall layout remains the same as the 2025 model, the 2026 MG5 model adds to the colours and ambient lighting: the Orange/Black Duplex cabin instantly refreshes the mind, and the 256-colour ambient lighting is more than capable of switching between different modes depending on the mood; the 12.3-inch full LCD instrumentation is smoothly linked to the same-sized centre suspension screen, while the physical buttons are retained underneath to take into account both technology and convenience. The dual mobile phone placement on the secondary dashboard and the high-gloss black trim around the gearshift lever all reflect the focus on practicality. The main driver’s seat is electrically adjustable with leather cladding, red colour and embossed accents, making for both driving comfort and visual quality. The upgraded 8-speaker audio system provides a better sense of immersion when listening to songs or voice navigation inside the car
Extreme power
In terms of power, the 2026 MG5 continues to be offered with both 1.5-litre naturally aspirated and 1.5T turbocharged options. Referring to the 2025 model data, the 1.5-litre engine produces 129 hp and 158 Nm of torque and is mated to a CVT; the 1.5T engine peaks at up to 181 hp and 285 Nm, and is equipped with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. It is worth mentioning that the addition of XDS Curve Dynamic Control System and Variable Section Rear Suspension makes the vehicle more stable when cornering or road surface undulation, which improves driving fun and safety. If you’re a city-driver with occasional excursions, this chassis tuning can meet the balance of daily and mildly aggressive driving.
